Haiti cholera outbreak toll rises to 2,071

Port-au-PRINCE - The toll in the cholera epidemic which began in Haiti at the end of October has killed 2,071 people till date, officials have said.

Haiti’s health ministry said in a report Monday that around 91,770 people have been infected, of whom 43,243 were hospitalised and 41,806 were discharged after their conditions improved, Xinhua reported.

UN experts have said the toll due to the disease could rise.

According to the ministry, Artibonite has been the worst hit region with 791 deaths.
