NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com) — A new EC report has revealed that Irish women have the higher risk to suffer from breast cancer than the women in any other country in Europe. The report which was released yesterday showed that the death rate in Ireland is 31.1 per 100,000 women and this is almost twice that of Spain which accounts to 16.2 deaths per 100,000 women.

Though the rates have decreased considerably after the commencement of breast cancer services in eight hospitals. Not only women are affected that rate of death in men due to prostate cancer is also alarming in Ireland. Ireland has the 15th highest death rate for prostate cancer.

The average life span of women in Ireland is 82 years but according to EU the average life expectancy should be 80.8 years. In case of men it is 74.3 years but the life expectancy of Irish men is found to be 77.4 years.
