SELLY OAK, BIRMINGHAM (GaeaTimes.com)- A resident of Selly Oak, Jane Haroop who had been suffering from brain fever was diagnosed wrongly that finally killed her. Reportedly, the patient was affected by brain fever as she experienced severe headaches. The medicos conducted a primary examination and confirmed it to be a migraine but later it was found that it was brain fever which ultimately took away her life.
The 30 year English lady had said that she felt as if she was “drunk” and that the intensity of the headache was increasing by the minute. Following that she was admitted in the Good Hope hospital of Birmingham where the doctors performed a MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) on her. The medicos never had a clue that the headache was caused due to brain fever and not migraine. The doctors confirmed her and her family members that Jane Haroop has a severe migraine. She was treated with large doses of morphine to lessen the intensity of the pain and was discharged from the hospital in a few days. Her family told the media that the officials of Good Hope Hospital had told them that they were unable to shift the patient to the neurology unit in Queen Elizabeth Hospital owing to the scarcity of beds.
It was later revealed in a post-mortem that she had been suffering from meningo-myeloencephalitis, a mutable virus that causes brain fever and leads to brain swelling associated with inflammation. With the post mortem results being revealed, the health officials along with the hospital heads have called for a detailed investigation. It’s seemingly strange why the doctors weren’t able to diagnose Jane Haroop for brain fever. Lisa Dunn who happens to be the director of Good Hope Hospital refrained to make any comment on the case in front of the media.
