New Video Games Promises to Cut Obesity Rate in Children

KOLKATA, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com) — After a lot of speculation on video games leading to rise in the number of childhood obesity, a new study has shown that new video games are encouraging children to consume healthier foods such as fruits and vegetables. Rise of obese children in US is a major health concern in US where one in one in five six- to 19-year-olds is obese. The study revealed that certain video games increased the intake of fruits and vegetables among children and motivated them to have a healthier diet that is so much needed to decrease the risk of obesity.

Two video games, “Escape from Diab” and “Nanoswarm” are designed to change diet and physical activity behaviors to reduce the risk of becoming obese and diabetic. Playing theses games can substantially change the food habits of children.

Experts still advise to do exercises along with diet to reduce the risk of being an obese. There need to be more investigations on the effectiveness of this above mentioned video games.
