AGRA - Hundreds of health-conscious residents of this Taj city Sunday walked to make people aware that a 30-minute walk a day can keep heart diseases at bay.

Businessmen, medical practitioners, professionals and other residents carried placards and banners through Agra’s lifeline MG Road while Punjab National Bank (PNB) supported the walk, organised by Wake Up Agra group.

“People in the age group of 35 and 45 years are becoming victims of heart attacks. This calls for an urgent review of our lifestyle patterns and work culture. A 30-minute brisk walk a day could ensure a degree of safety,” Wake Up Agra group’s Shishir Bhagat told IANS.

The heart is the most crucial body organ and it is necessary to keep it healthy and fit, PNB regional manager S. Bali said.

“Eat less than you need, sleep well, remain cheerful and stress-free, and spend sometime daily doing yoga exercises,” Father John Ferriera, an acclaimed international yoga guru, told IANS.

“This is the mantra for fitness and a healthy heart,” said Ferriera, who is also the principal of St Peter’s College here that organised a health camp for the underprivileged Sunday.
