Mediterranean Diet Hogging Attention

MADRID, SPAIN (GaeaTimes.com)- The Mediterranean diet has always got accolades for its health benefits but a recent study also suggests it is god for the skin of the followers. The diet reportedly prevents the fatal malignant melanoma which is the most deeded variant of skin cancer. The southern Europeans do not suffer from UV ray related damages since they consume a lot of watermelon, carrot, fish, and red wine and olive oil. It has been found from study that only 3 people in Mediterranean region out of 100000 suffer from skin cancer. On the other hand 50 out of every 100000 Australians suffer from skin ailments caused by UV rays of sun. The diet is full of antioxidants which helps in boosting the immune system of the people who stay healthy longer compared to others.

The Mediterranean diet may soon make its way on to the cultural heritage list of UNESCO. The governments of countries like Morocco, Greece, Spain and Italy are keen on the entry of the diet to the privileged UNESCO list. The doctors and nutritionists have always given this diet a thumb up owing to its low fat content and abundance of fiber. In fact the Mediterranean diet is considered the best weapon against a number of deadly ailments including diabetes, arthritis, cardiovascular disease and asthma.

The Mediterranean diet may be taken by UNESCO in its heritage list but the entity has not yet confirmed it. The studies have found out that people adopting this diet are protected against sun damage owing to the carotenoids present in the fruits and vegetables included in this type of diet.
