DHAKA - The lives of nearly 37,000 babies in Bangladesh in a year would be possibly saved by starting breast-feeding within an hour of birth, the government said Wednesday.

Referring to a report of ‘Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey’, Health and Welfare Minister AFM Ruhal Haque said this while addressing a function marking the World Breast-feeding Week-2010 here, Xinhua reported.

He said every year about 120,000 newborns die in Bangladesh within 28 days of their birth due to malnutrition.
