SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA (GaeaTimes.com)- An Epileptic patient has been successfully implanted a device right on to his chest which shall help him monitor his seizures. The surgery was performed by the Australian medical team at the St. Vincent hospital. The doctors claim the device to be a breakthrough in the field of Epilepsy treatment and said that all Epilepsy patients shall be benefited by the device.

The Epilepsy patient Jason Dent has been on trial for the device and he said that the device is a boon to all patients who share similar medical state. The device is said to work on signals and transmissions which originates in the chest and then is passed on to the connecting wires and hits the brain. As soon as there is risk of seizure, lights glow to denote the same to the patient. A red light indicates a high risk seizure whereas a white light denotes a moderate risk. A low risk seizure is denoted by a blue light. All readings can be monitored by a wireless pager.

When asked about his medical state, Jason Dent told the media that he has been a victim of Epilepsy since he was 4 years old and have experienced several seizures. He also said that Epilepsy seizures are hard to gauge as he had been through situations when he was fine all throughout a span of 3 months. Jason Dent is the only one among a total of 10 Australians who has been successfully treated with the implantation of the device. The medical team said that the device shall soon be made available commercially in the market for all Epileptic patients.
