SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA (GaeaTimes.com) — The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) declared its breast cancer detection program enrollment starts today. In this program women aged 40 or above will be provided free breast cancer screening and diagnosis.
This noble program which is termed as Every Woman Counts program is specially for under-privileged women and women having low-income in California. According to the CDPH Director Dr. Mark Horton,
We are very pleased to be able to reopen the program to qualifying low-income women age 40 and older. Early detection can save a life, and I strongly encourage all eligible women to take advantage of this service.
This program was established by the federal Breast and Cervical Cancer Mortality Prevention Act of 1990 and the state Breast Cancer Act of 1993. But due to some unavoidable reasons this program was ceased to operate on Jan 1, 2010. This program is already started its action from 1st December, 2010. They have planned to provide this services to more than 300,000 women. To know details about the enrollment, you can call this toll-free number, (800) 511-2300.
