Brain stroke turns drunkard into teetotaller

LONDON - A Briton, who was a drunkard, was transformed into a teetotaller after a brain haemorrhage. The change was so dramatic that his long-suffering girlfriend even agreed to marry him.
Ken Merryweather, 44, regularly used to go out for all-night drink binges and then return home to have verbal altercation with his girlfriend Tracey.
His personality underwent a drastic change after he suffered from brain haemorrhage, Sky News reported Thursday.
Ken said he was glad that the haemorrhage had made him “a nicer guy to be around”.
“I used to be so verbally abusive - especially after a few pints. When I used to work I used to go straight to the pub and not get in until 2 to 3 in the morning.”
“I don’t touch a drop now. Tracey says it’s turned me into a better person,” Ken was quoted as saying.
Tracey said: “There was no way I would’ve married him before but he has totally gone the other way.”
Ken said that there were things he couldn’t do “but there are other things I can - I can cross-stitch and I do an awful lot of sewing and cooking”.
He had been drinking heavily when he was struck by brain haemorrhage.
The next day Tracey found him on floor. He had stopped breathing and Tracey had to resuscitate him.
Ken said: “I lost 50 to 70 percent of my memory, I had to learn to walk and talk again.”
“I don’t touch a drop now. Tracey says it’s turned me into a better person.”
