British woman becomes surrogate mother - just like her mom

LONDON - A 21-year-old British woman, who has become a surrogate mother like her own mom, says she is incredibly proud to have followed in her mother’s footsteps.

The Sun Tuesday reported that the woman and her mother have made medical history by both becoming surrogate mums.

Jacqui Shields has had five babies after began helping childless couples nine years ago.

Becky, 21, was so inspired by Jacqui that she decided to follow her and gave birth to a girl for a couple last year.

“I’m incredibly proud to have followed in mum’s footsteps.

“She always said that making other families happy was the best feeling in the world,” Becky was quoted as saying.

Jacqui’s first surrogate children were twins in 2001. She has helped a Scottish couple twice.

She also had a baby for a Ugandan couple, adding: “The doctor was very surprised when the baby was black.”

Mark Sedler, a fertility doctor, said: “I am not aware of any other mum and daughter cases like this.”
