Swine flu spreading rapidly in Andhra, toll 20

HYDERABAD - Swine flu is spreading rapidly in Andhra Pradesh with one more person succumbing Thursday, taking the toll to 20 since June this year, and 15 new suspected cases coming to light.
The man, identified as Raghupathy, died at the government-run Gandhi Hospital here. A native of Karimnagar district, he was admitted there a few days ago.
Health officials have confirmed a case of swine flu in temple town of Tirupati while 15 nursing students, with symptoms of H1N1, have been admitted to Gandhi Hospital here.
The samples of the students were sent for analysis to Government Chest Hospital, the nodal centre for treatment of swine flu, the officials said.
Two people, including a pregnant woman, died of swine flu in the state Wednesday while 20 people including five children tested positive.
The number of swine flu cases this year in the state has now reached 200.
The health authorities are concerned over the rapid spread of the virus and have warned people to be careful, especially in view of the coming festival season. The virus can spread rapidly during monsoon and winter.
As many as 54 people died of swine flu in the state last year. Nearly 800 cases were reported.
