Another doctor contracts swine flu in Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH - Another doctor of the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) has tested positive for the influenza A (H1N1) virus, adding to the tally of swine flu patients here, a health official said Wednesday.
Of the 61 positive cases reported in hospitals here, nearly 25 percent were doctors and medical staff.
We had collected the throat and nasal swab samples of a resident doctor of endocrinology department of PGIMER yesterday (Tuesday). His reports have come positive, and he has been administered Tamiflu, nodal officer of swine flu H.C. Gera said.
Besides, we had collected samples of six more suspected cases, including two PGIMER doctors, for tests. We are waiting for their report,” he added.
Till date, over 450 suspected cases have been reported in Chandigarh, of which 61 tested positive. Three casualties have been reported in this region so far.
