NEW YORK - Kevin Czartoryski, a retired police detective, who acted as a mediator between the New York Police Department and the city’s gay community, has reportedly died from a lung ailment that he suffered following the 9/11 terror attacks.
The New York Post quoted Police Commissioner Ray Kelly as saying that Czartoryski “served with great distinction.”
“He was a consummate professional and a cheerful bridge for understanding who will be missed terribly,” Kelly added.
Forty-six-year-old Czartoryski, who retired in 2009 on a 9/11 medical disability, died at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell in Manhattan.
His funeral would reportedly be held on Thursday at St. Raphael’s Church on 3520 Greenpoint Avenue in Long Island City. (ANI)
