CHANDIGARH - Punjab’s health department Friday started a three-day campaign across the state with free medical camps for people to mark Independence Day Aug 15.

The medical camps started in urban slum areas of all district headquarters Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, medical camps with special emphasis on maternal and child health services will be held in all district hospitals, sub-divisional hospitals and community health centres of the state.

“A series of free medical camps are being organised across the state from Aug 13-15 to mark Independence Day. These camps will be supervised by all senior officers of the health department in different districts,” said state Health and Family Welfare Minister Laxmi Kanta Chawla.

Chawla added that she would herself visit and supervise these camps at Amritsar and Tarn Taran districts while other senior health officials will supervise camps in all 20 districts in Punjab.
