NEW DELHI - Drinking water is the best way to beat the oppressive summer that has led to a spurt in heat stroke cases in the capital.
Medical experts say that dehydration, or lack of water content in the body, can even lead to death if it goes undetected.
“The number of patients of heat stroke has seen an increase by 10-20 percent since last year,” Anshul Jain, a cardiologist in Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, told IANS.
Unfortunately, many people ignore to drink water at regular intervals, leading to heat strokes.
The stroke is more devastating in the case of the physically weak or old, said D.K. Kesar, director of the Asian Institute of Medical Sciences, Faridabad.
Medical experts say it is advisable to drink lots of water, have adequate amount of salt and sugar, wear loose clothes to allow the skin to breathe, and eat fruits and vegetables with higher water content.
