PATNA/AMETHI - Microsoft chief Bill Gates arrived in Bihar Wednesday, a day after accompanying local MP and Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi on a day’s visit to Amethi constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

Gates reached Patna in a private jet. He will see the Indian government’s anti-polio campaign in Bihar.

He left the Gandhi family guest house at Munshiganj in Uttar Pradesh around 7.30 a.m. Wednesday. He boarded his flight from the Indira Gandhi Flying Academy at Fursatganj at 8 a.m.

After a whirlwind tour of the vast rural expanse of Rahul Gandhi’s constituency of Amethi as well as parts of his mother Sonia Gandhi’s neighbouring Rae Bareli constituency, besides a few other villages in Pratapgarh Tuesday, the two finally retired at about 11.30 p.m.

Rahul Gandhi left an hour later after visiting the family of Congress activist Rajjan Shukla, who was murdered last month. Ruling Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Chandra Prakash Matiari is among the key accused in the killing.

Rahul Gandhi also went to condole the death of CRPF trooper Vinod Yadav, who was among the 76 victims of the Maoist strike at Dantewada in Chhattisgarh in April.
