LONDON - A war veteran in the UK has discovered what he thought was arthritis turned out to be a German bullet which had been lodged in his hip for the last 66 years.

Fred Gough, from Darlaston, West Midlands, was recommended to go for an x-ray after he complained of pain in his right leg.

It was then that the 83-year-old pensioner found that his discomfort stemmed from the bullet that he had caught during his time battling on the front line in World War II.

“It has absolutely amazed me and I was pretty shocked to say the least. I didn’t know it was there - it hasn’t caused me any trouble for the last 65 years - its only been in the last three months that its given me problems,” the Telegraph quoted him as saying.

“It was a big surprise to hear that I’ve been carrying around this bullet inside me for over six decades but I can remember it happening come to think of it,” he added. (ANI)
