GURGAON - A super speciality hospital in Gurgaon Saturday launched ‘Happy Nest’, a state-of-art birthing centre with individualised labour rooms where the family has an option to be part of the birth process.
According to a statement by the Artemis Health Institute (AHI), besides individualised labour rooms, the centre will offer exclusive features like a level-3 neonatal unit and cord blood or stem cell banking and epidural analgesia, a technique of providing pain relief during labour.
Veena Bhat, director, obstetrics and gynaecology at AHI, said the aim of the birthing centre is to offer a home-like ambience for a mother-to-be with round-the-clock availability of doctors, trained staff and all facilities that will make child-birth a pleasant experience.
The centre will have a dedicated labour and delivery complex with six private labour delivery recovery and post-partum care (LDRP) suites.
“The concept of LDRP care in a private room saves the mother-to-be from additional stress of shifting for delivery. It also gives a chance to the family to be part of the birthing process and a father can even cut the umbilical cord or shoot a video,” a statement said.
Post-delivery, the hospital’s ‘Rooming-In Policy’ will allows the new mother to participate in the baby’s early care and growth. Lactation consultants are also available to advise on breast-feeding problems.
