RAIPUR - Chhattisgarh government Thursday said it had brought down the infant mortality rate and credited its health welfare schemes for the success.

“The infant mortality rate has come down to 57 per 1,000 cases while it was 79 per 1,000 cases at the time of the creation of the state in November 2000,” a government statement said.

Infant mortality rate is the number of babies under one year of age dying per 1,0000 live births.
