NEW DELHI - The government is disseminating information related to population stabilization to the remotest parts of the country, Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said Sunday.
Speaking at the inauguration of the ministry’s pavilion at the India International Trade Fair here that started Sunday, Azad said: Nearly four decades ago we did not have effective means of birth control. We were dependent on sterilization only. But now we have better alternatives such as condoms, contraceptives, apart from sterilization.
The pavilion this year would spread awareness. The ministry is working effectively to disseminate information related to population stabilization to the remotest part of India, said Azad.
The theme for the pavilion this year is population stabilization.
The main attraction of the pavilion include a condom vending machine, a sterilization centre, an emergency contraceptive consultancy room and theme based street plays.
