The Oz prison that serves drugs, porn, pizza perks to inmates!

MELBOURNE - The Innisfail Work Camp prison has been closed after a former inmate revealed that prisoners are living a life of luxury.

Roast chicken, pizza, drugs, pornography, shopping trips and regular visits from girlfriends are just some of the perks the prisoners enjoyed here, according to the pictures the former inmate provided.

Corrective Services Minister Neil Roberts ordered the immediate closure of the work camp and all the inmates were last night transferred to Lotus Glen prison near Mareeba while a dog squad combed the camp’s grounds for drugs, reports Cairns.com.au.

“You’ve got people convicted of violent crimes like murder and grievous bodily harm yet they’re allowed to roam unsupervised every Wednesday and Sunday,” said the former inmate, who spoke on conditions of anonymity.

“Sometimes one of the inmates would even drive the work camp bus to his part-time job as a bartender in Cairns,” he added.

Commissioner for Corrective Services Kelvin Anderson said the Chief Inspector of Prisons would appoint investigators to examine the allegations.

Anderson has said that although the inmates were taken to Innisfail every Wednesday for shopping and were given recreational time on Sundays, they were supervised at all times. (ANI)
