WHAT? You can already “check in” to restaurants and bars using Foursquare’s phone application and receive virtual badges for certain accomplishments. Now, you’ll also get a badge if you get tested for sexually transmitted diseases.

HOW? Check into a clinic or a health care provider in September. Then post — “shout” in foursquare lingo — the letters “GYT” to your friends.

WHY? The badge is part of MTV’s “GYT: Get Yourself Tested” campaign, which seeks to remove the stigma attached to getting checked for STDs.
