BANGALORE - Infosys Chairman and Chief Mentor N.R. Narayana Murthy has suffered bruises in one of his knees after a minor accident and has been told to cut down on travel, a top official of the IT bellwether said Saturday.
“It is a small accident. Nothing major but doctors advised him rest,” Infosys CEO Kris Gopalakrishnan told a convention at which Murthy was to deliver the keynote address.
He stepped in for Murthy and delivered the address to an innovation convention organised here by the Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur alumni as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the institute. Murthy did his M.Tech from the institute.
Gopalakrishnan did not specify when and how the Infosys chairman suffered the injury or how long he has been advised rest.
He told reporters that it had happened a few weeks ago when he was on a Europe tour.
“He travels like crazy. He was supposed to come back here and go back to Europe. Doctors said don’t keep travelling,” Gopalakrishnan said.
