Argentine doctors in Venezuela to treat Cerati

CARACAS, Venezuela — Argentine doctors have arrived in Venezuela to treat Latin American rock star Gustavo Cerati following brain surgery.

The president of Venezuela’s Evenpro entertainment company said Friday that neurologists Ramon Leiguarda and Fernanda Diaz are discussing Cerati’s medical condition with Venezuelan doctors who have been treating the Argentine singer.

Santiago Otero’s company organized a recent concert featuring Cerati.

Cerati underwent surgery on Tuesday. Doctors say he suffered a transient ischemic attack, often called a mini-stroke.

Cerati was the singer of Soda Stereo, an Argentine rock band, until its breakup in 1997. He’s also had a successful solo career.
