Obama sits down to Southern lunch

SAVANNAH, Ga. — President Barack Obama wants reporters to do the unthinkable: keep a secret.

Obama sat down Tuesday afternoon for a Southern-style lunch at Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room, a popular restaurant and tourist attraction in Savannah, Ga. In front of him was a plate piled high with fried chicken and bowls of beans, sweet potatoes, greens and macaroni and cheese.

Turning to reporters who accompanied him on the trip, Obama said he didn’t want to hear any lectures about his cholesterol. And above all, he said, don’t tell his wife, first lady Michelle Obama, about his lunch.

Obama learned days earlier during his first physical as president that he has borderline high cholesterol.
