Rajasthan police busts major fake drugs preparation racket

JAIPUR - The Rajasthan Police on Wednesday busted a huge fake drugs preparation racket under the labels of reputed pharmaceutical companies.

According to police two people have been arrested in connection with the racket. The police are interrogating the arrested to ascertain the details of the people behind the racket.

A number of fake antibiotics and analgesics were seized at the site, the majority of which were liquid in nature.

“When we came in here, we saw that fake medicines were being filled and labeled under the tags of famous companies like Dabur, Wockhardt, Pfizer, Aventis and many other companies,” said D K Shringi, Drug Controller.

Although police officials declined to confirm any reports, they said that initial investigations showed that the accused were involved in trading fake cough syrups and ointments.

The major brands which were being packed included cough syrups like Benadryl, Alex, Zedex, Corex, etc.

“We raided this place in concert with the Drug Department and arrested two people in this matter. The accused are Mohammad Nisar and Akram Sanab,” said Suryaveer Singh, Station House Officer.

Reportedly, a huge quantity of facial creams was also recovered, which were being packaged under popular brand names. (ANI)
