Discount Medspa Going to Jail

New York- A website called Discount Medspa (discountmedspa.com) is going to jail for selling of prescription drug similar to Botox without any prescription.

Discount Medspa even gives a how-to video, so you can inject the Botox unto your face yourself, without the aid of a doctor or a nurse. Laurie D’Alleva, a lady from Texas, who appears to be the site’s proprietor, performs treatments on herself in this self-made video.

Laurie asked her customers to follow YouTube.com where the video appears, to know the secret of recreating their face as they want to look like.

After following Laurie’s advice, many women are complaining mishaps caused by over-injecting the drug.

Some of them are reported having half closed and swollen eye, and look ready for Halloween!

Discountmedspa sells a variety of other DIY cosmetic treatments, including prescription Renova, and lip-filling gels. The botulinum toxin-derivative for sale on the site is Dysport, produced by the pharmaceutical company Ipsen. Ipsen is a competitor of Allergan’s Botox, which is the most popular cosmetic treatment in America.

In the U.S., it is illegal for anyone to prescribe drugs to patients with the exception of a doctor or nurse or practitioner. Moreover, only pharmacists can dispense drugs to people. Yet drug sellers on the internet routinely flout the FDA’s regulations. Botox is a prescription drug, so selling of Botox without prescription is illegal.

The domain discountmedspa.com is registered to Cristie Stone. The illegal selling of prescription drugs is now under investigation.

It’s really incredible how the site cheated more than its 2000 customers, it claims to have. People are gullible to this type of beauty treatment and quickly grasp it, without doing any research. Wired.com is guiding the customers from bad or fake drugs to ensure safety.

I think the person posting under lauriefruit is the person from Mybasics.net, Kelly Reed, who claims to be centered in New Zealand but who is actually in Barrington, Illinois:). Hi Kelly. Still selling illegally?

Also buyer beware, her stuff is bogus.

She did a great service selling Botox. Too bad she could not continue. No I do not believe she is going to jail.
