SUNDERGARH - Five students from Kanyashrama School in Orissa’s Sundergarh district have tested positive for Swine flu.

According to reports, some students from the school complained of normal fever. Later, these students were given medication, but the number of affected students kept on increasing.

Chief District Medical Officer, B K Kindo who treated the affected students, informed that all the students were given the treatment as soon as they were detected carrying the virus.

“Five out of six samples that we had given for testing were found positive. Those who were suspected of the virus are now cured,” Kindo said.

He added that around 14 students of the Kanyashram are still being kept under observation.

The sudden break of the deadly virus has created panic among the local residents, and the authorities fear that many more students in the hostel were suffering from the disease.

“The number of unaffected students is 76, the number of students who were suspected of carrying the virus is 64, the number of students having normal fever is 65 and the number of students sent to Rajgangpur hospital is 20,” said Subhendra Kumar Samal, District Welfare Officer. (ANI)
