SAN FRANCISCO (GaeaTimes.com)- There are a huge number of anti aging skincare products in the market and they are mostly sought after by people who want to retain their youthful looks even when they are past their prime. This explains why a number of skincare companies earn huge revenues every year selling their cosmetics and skin care products to the customers vying for a perfect looking skin. A number of skincare companies use a compound named Dmae or dimethylaminoethanol in their products which according to them fights the signs of aging and slows down the process. The so called anti aging creams work on symptoms of aging like wrinkles, dark circles around the eyes and fine lines. Recently a product named Face Finishing Moisturizer made and sold by Perricone MD Cosmeceuticals which has this ingredient has come into spotlights. The company claims that this product not only reverses the aging process but makes the effect last on the skin of the users.
However a section of dermatologists and doctors are skeptical about the effects of DMAE on reducing the signs of aging. Francois Marceau a Pharmacologist in Quebec’s Laval University found out that the skin firming that is achieved by the use of the cream is “not necessarily very dangerous, but has not been properly analyzed scientifically”. The recherches think before a person uses such products he should see if the products meet the FDA guidelines or not.
Perricone MD Cosmeceuticals which makes use of Dmae cream in its Face Finishing Moisturizer does not state the quantity of Dmae in the product. It sells for $65 at Sephora.
