CALIFORNIA (GaeaTimes.com) — According to State Health Officials there is a sudden spike in whooping cough infections mainly among children in California. The state is all set to break a 55-year old record when atleast 4,107 cases were detected of this highly contagious disease. Parents are suggested to get their children and also themselves vaccinated against whooping cough.
The situation distressed the state when the epidemic took the lives of nine infants. Nearly 11,466 cases are caught across the nation suffering from whooping cough, also known as pertussis. Many parents forgo this vaccine for their babies. The vaccines against whooping cough should be given immediately to children as this disease that begins like a common cold can be deadly at times.
