LAS CRUCES, N.M. — A New Mexico first-grader has undergone brain surgery after a fight with another child on a school bus.

Las Cruces school officials say the elementary school students were riding home April 14 when a someone was pushed and a boy hit his head.

School district spokeswoman Jo Galvan says the injured child was taken to an El Paso, Texas, hospital. She said he was doing better Wednesday

The boys’ names were not released because of their age.

Galvan says both boys are expected to be questioned before any discipline is decided.
