HIV affected people in Gorakhpur initiate rehabilitation for others

GORAKHPUR - A voluntary organisation in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur district initiates rehabilitation of HIV-infected people.
The organization called Gorakhpur Network for People Living with HIV/AIDS is an organization, which is a group of people affected with HIV.
“Our committee is a group of people affected with HIV, our goal is that as we live a healthy life even if we are affected with HIV, likewise if there are similar kind of people in the society, they should come forward, get themselves treated and take care of themselves,” said Seema Sharma, a member of the organization.
Besides distributing books, brochures, condoms for free they also advice the villagers about different medical colleges where they can get useful information.
They travel in different villages thereby spreading general awareness as to what can lead to AIDS so that others aren’t affected by this disease.
“We will live and let others live, others won’t get affected with HIV, we will prevent it from spreading further. Earlier we felt embarrassed as to how will we face the society, yet we all gathered some courage and went ahead, we have made this organization and we will enhance it further, we have come forward with this aim and we will stop HIV from spreading,” said Urmila Gupta, Deputy Chairman of the organization.
India has more than five million HIV/AIDS sufferers, the second largest number after South Africa. (ANI)
