THIRUVANANTHAPURAM - Reacting to all the talk surrounding his stay with a Dalit family in Uttar Pradesh recently, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi today said: “I don’t see myself staying with a Dalit. I see myself going to a human being’s house.”

Addressing the media during a one-day visit to Kerala, Rahul said: “You see him as a Dalit, I see him as a poorest person. The poorest are intelligent, but have no opportunity.”

He further said that for him, the plight of the poorest of the poor in the country was more to do with the lack of opportunity, than say education. That was not to say that getting an education was not important or necessary, he added

His visit to the state assumes significance in the wake of bypolls to three assembly seats being slated for November 7.

The Congress will take it as an opportunity to deal another blow to the CPI(M)-led LDF combine. (ANI)
