BHOPAL - Thirteen doctors from four medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh were dismissed from service by the government as their educational certificates were not recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI), an official said.

The doctors were working as lecturers in four medical colleges in Bhopal, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Rewa districts.

“As their certificates were not recognised by the MCI, we have terminated them from service,” said V.K. Soni, director for health department.

Significantly, most of the dismissed doctors studied in medical colleges recognised by the state government and were working for over a decade in different medical colleges.

“If our certificates were not recognised, how we got jobs and how were we teaching in medical colleges? There is no option left for us to move court,” said R.S. Dhakad, one of the dismissed doctors.
