Sigma-Aldrich buys Ace Animals, terms undisclosed

ST. LOUIS — Biochemical company Sigma-Aldrich said Tuesday that it will buy a commercial rodent breeder in Pennsylvania.

The acquisition of Ace Animals, based in Berks County, will boost the company’s ability to produce test rats with specific gene deletions, insertions, repressions and modifications.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Ace will operate as part of as part of the Sigma Advanced Genetic Engineering Labs.

Sigma-Aldrich Corp. is based in St. Louis.
