LUCKNOW - An HIV affected couple tied themselves into nuptial knot in a well-attended wedding ceremony in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday (Dec.5).

Asim and Pinki, both aged around 22 years, met each other through common friends and presently work for a non-profit voluntary organization.

The couple has vowed to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS and encourage more and more individuals like them to marry.

The marriage could be possible due to the encouragement by Positive People’s Organisation (PPO), which brought them together, as both of them are patients who have been tested positive for HIV.

Asim was diagnosed for HIV almost 11 months back, whereas Pinki came to know about being HIV around two months ago.

“Nothing is difficult. It is a person’s thought which is difficult. If a person is confident and thinks positive then he can achieve any goal. No one can stop him. We have tied the knot to achieve the goal,” said Asim, the bridegroom.

According to the President of Positive People’s Organisation, Amitabh Awasthi, the parameters to decide the marriage was that both were infected with HIV positive virus.

“Our parameter is virus. Virus should be there in both the partners whether male or female. This is the only way which decides them to be together. We teach them how to keep their lifestyle and how to do safe sex,” said Amitabh Awasthi. (ANI)
