Blast yields arsenal at ex-doctor’s Ohio apartment
CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio — Police in Ohio say they found dozens of pipe bombs, an assortment of firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition in a former doctor’s apartment.
Authorities say they don’t know why the man had the arsenal or if he had any plans to use the weapons.
Sgt. Gary Merton Jr. says police first thought they came across a methamphetamine lab Monday night after explosions shook the apartment complex in Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH’-guh) Falls, about 20 miles southeast of Cleveland.
The man, 56-year-old Mark Campano, told an officer that he was loading shotgun shells when one of them blew up in his hands.
Campano, an anesthesiologist who lost his medical license in 2006, was taken to a hospital with injuries to his hand and arm.
No charges have been filed. There was no answer Wednesday at a listing for Campano.
