LONDON - A 10-year-old boy in UK has been voted as Britain’s Kindest Kid 2010 after he painted dozens of pictures to help raise cash for a cancer charity.
Dylan Ward impressed judges from the Charities Aid Foundation and Five News with his fund-raising work for Macmillan after his grandad died from bowel cancer last year.
The youngster picked up a trophy, 1,000 pounds prize money and 1,000 pounds for his chosen good cause from Channel 5 presenters Natasha Kaplinsky and Peter Lane.
“Dylan really is inspirational,” the Daily Star quoted Kaplinsky, 38, as saying.
Dylan persuaded businesses near his home in Washington, Tyne and Wear, to donate paint and canvases before hosting an art exhibition and raising 700 pounds.
“Dylan’s a humble little boy but he really is incredibly caring. He’s really excited to have won the competition,” his mum Annmarie, 30, added.
Last month, Prime Minister David Cameron, 46, promised to hang one of the schoolboy’s pictures in his daughter’s room. (ANI)
