PATNA - With temperatures dipping across the country, animals in Patna Zoo are being given proteins and mineral in their diet.
Ajit Kumar, a veterinary doctor, said it is essential for wild animals like tigers and leopards to consume good quantities of milk and meats in their diet.
“The authorities are providing a rich diet to animals to combat the winter chill. The authorities are taking special care of the elderly animals, like leopards and tigers who are aged. They are not taking them out of their cages. They are also providing them mineral and vitamin-rich diet. The quantity of easily digestible foods like chicken, meat, eggs and milk has also increased,” said Kumar.
The visitors to the zoo also appreciated the treatment given to the animals.
“It’s so chilly in Patna and we are visiting this zoo. The authorities here are taking good care of the animals, though the temperature is continuously decreasing. But at present the arrangements here are really good,” said Deepak Kumar Srivastava, a visitor.
The zoo authorities have also deployed staff on night duty to look after the animals and for taking more care of the younger and elderly animals.(ANI)
