Pfizer, American Kennel Club team up on research

NEW YORK — Pfizer’s animal health unit is teaming up with the American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation to research new ways to prevent, treat and cure dog diseases.

Pfizer Inc. will provide $500,000 over two years. The New York-based drugmaker said the efforts could eventually lead to medicines for people as well.

Pfizer and the American Kennel Club have previously worked together through projects including the Canine Comparative Oncology & Genomics Consortium at the National Cancer Institute. Pfizer said the latest deal is part of its ongoing commitment to veterinarians and the future of their profession.
