NEW DELHI - A joint delegation of Indian and Australian officials and health professionals will visit Dehradun Thursday to explore possibilities of setting up a tertiary eye care and training centre in Uttarakhand.

“The burden of avoidable blindness and vision impairment on the health care system in India is significant. Enhancing access to these services will require an increase in the number of eye care professionals,” said G.N Rao, chairman and CEO, L.V. Prasad Eye Institute.

“The centre will cater to patients requiring advanced eye care and will also train optometrists and opthalmologists,” Rao added.
