Ayurvedic physician among medicine Padma winners

NEW DELHI - Late ayurvedic physician K. Raghavan Thirumulpad is among the Padma award winners from the field of medicine this year.

A total of 10 awards were given in the field of medicine, which included two Padma Bhushans and eigth Padma Shris.

Vaidyabhooshanam K. Raghavan Thirumulpad, ayurvedic scholar and physician from Kerala, and Keki Byramjee Grant, the founder of the Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune, were awarded the Padma Bhushan posthumously for their contributions to the field of medicine.

Chhattisgarh paediatrician Pukhraj Bafna, in-vitro fertilisation expert and gynaecologist from Maharshtra Indira Hinduja, neuro surgeon A. Marthanda Pillai and cardio-thoracic surgeon Jose Chacko Periappuram - both from Kerala - and Azad Moopen, a Kerala physician-turned-entrepreneur based in the United Arab Emirates, are among the Padma Shri winners.
