ISLAMABAD - Pakistan suffered a loss of about 9.5 billion dollars (over 800 billion rupees) in the recent floods in terms of damaged crops, infrastructure, public and private property in the four provinces and FATA, a preliminary Damage Need Assessment (DNA) report prepared by the World Bank and Asian Development Bank has said.

The report has been presented to the Planning Commission, and the government is also preparing a presentation for the Friends of Democratic Pakistan (FoDP) meeting to be held in Brussels, the Dawn reported.ccording to the report, Sindh suffered the maximum damage, amounting to around 350 billion rupees, followed by Punjab- 253 billion rupees, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa- 103 billion rupees, Balochistan- 55 billion rupees and FATA- 5 billion rupees.

The report further pointed out that individuals suffered losses of crops and livestock to the tune of 428 billion rupees.

However, sources in the planning commission said that while the report had only highlighted the damage caused by floods, infrastructure reconstruction and the compensation to be paid to people who had lost their sources of livelihood, would actually cost between 25 billion to 30 billion dollars.
