DUBAI, UAE (GaeaTimes.com)- World Anti Tobacco Day shall witness UAE (United Arab Emirates) joining hands with WHO (World Health Organization) as a part of the global initiative which aims to curb the sale and smoking of tobacco; especially cigarettes. As a result of this Anti Tobacco Day measure, all gas stations of Eppco, Emarat and Enoc shall refrain from selling cigarettes on May 31. The Dubai Municipality officers told the media that they feel this one day ban on selling cigarette shall encourage people to take up the habit as a regular process. In their opinion such a measure is the right one on Anti Tobacco Day which aims to put an end to the killer habit which is taking heavy lives all over the world.

It was declared by the Dubai Municipality that the recent figures are alarming as there has been a steady increase in the number of smokers in the country. Speaking on Anti Tobacco Day, the municipal officials said that the recent figures depicts 14 percent of women in Dubai are smokers.

Anti Tobacco day shall also witness Dubai launching the GCC-Wide-Anti Tobacco drive which shall encourage people to give up their habit of smoking and shall put a ban on the selling of tobacco in the country. The UAE Minister of Health, Dr Hanif Hassan shall launch the campaign on Anti Tobacco day. Reportedly the decision to launch the campaign was taken in accordance to the annual report of WHO which shows how similar number of boys and girls are heavily addicted to smoking as depicted in the survey results over 151 countries.
