Women equally drawn to average built or muscular men

LONDON - Women are equally attracted to average built and muscular bodied men, says a study.

The finding revealed that having a muscular body does not affect much when it comes to choosing men. The study was conducted by showing a selection of differently-shaped men in mock ads, and women rated the men of averagely built as high as the men with a six-pack, reports dailystar.co.uk.

“Men and women rated average-size male models as equally effective in advertisements as ultra-muscular models,” said Phillipa Diedrichs, of the University of the West of England who led the study.

The results of the study have raised questions about using ultra-muscular men in ad campaigns.

The findings echoed a similar study in 2008 that showed plus-size female models could sell products as effectively as thin ones.
