Valeant Pharma begins selling generic IBS drug

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — Valeant Pharmaceuticals said Monday it began selling a generic version of Librax, a treatment for irritable bowel syndrome drug.

Valeant said its product is an authorized generic. It will be sold by Valeant’s Oceanside Pharmaceuticals division. Librax is a combination of two compounds: chlordiazepoxide hydrochloride, and clidinium bromide.

In afternoon trading, Valeant stock slipped 98 cents, or 2.9 percent, to $32.30.
