RAIPUR - Four people, including an eight-year-old girl, Wednesday tested positive for swine flu, taking the total number of influenza A (H1N1) cases in the state to eight, a health official said.

“The latest lot of sample results received from Delhi confirmed four more people suffering from swine flu,” health services deputy director S.M.M. Murthy told IANS.

He said the state has reported eight positive swine flu cases and death of a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable due to the virus.

Murthy said the eight-year-old girl who tested positive had recently returned from Delhi.

“We are taking care of the eight swine flu patients who all belong to Raipur town. We are providing them tamiflu tablets,” Murthy said. The patients have been kept in isolation in their houses.

He said over 210 samples of suspected swine flu patients had been sent to Delhi-based National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for testing so far. The results of just 25 samples were awaited.
